What does Gnome actually track?
Three things, in one record: your adjusted cost basis, your home's value against the local market, and every paint colour you have used, tagged to the room and surface it lives on.
How does the cost basis work?
Gnome logs each capital improvement with IRS-compliant logic and adds it to your adjusted cost basis. A higher basis means a smaller taxable gain when you eventually sell.
Where does my property data come from?
From public records. Enter your address and Gnome pulls your parcel size, build year and tax ID automatically, so you are not typing in what is already on file.
Do I have to enter my closing statement by hand?
No. Upload it and the AI extracts your baseline purchase data in seconds. Every extracted field is shown before it is saved, and you can enter the figures manually instead if you prefer.
How long does setup take?
About five minutes. Three steps: your address, your closing statement, then your rooms and paint. Everything you add after that keeps working for you.
